Thoughts on Cloudflare

In an age where it seems like everything useful is behind a paywall, especially in the IT space, I feel more and more that Cloudflare really is too good to us. For one of, if not the largest DNS provider, the list of features Cloudflare is content to give to users without even asking for payment information is staggering. DDoS protection, caching, security rules, and my favorite feature: A CAPTCHA system that doesn't make me want to gouge my eyes out. All without asking for a dime from the end user. Also, as someone who likes to host my own services but prefers to not have their IP address exposed to the world, Cloudflared is invaluable.

The Further you dig into Cloudflare, the more generosity you can find, you'd be amazed at what you can do. For example, as of writing, Cloudflare offers all users 10GB of their R2 storage, a S3-compatible storage system with UNMETERED outbound traffic. AI endpoints? They've got those. Email routing? Included.
